PRESS RELEASE - ARMENTA ALGANDAR

July 7, 2026

On July 6th, the Bonneville County Coroner's Office responded with Idaho State Police (ISP) to investigate a two-vehicle fatality crash that occurred at 6:45 p.m. at milepost 358 on US Highway 26, east of Ririe. The Bonneville County Sheriff's Office, Idaho Falls Fire/EMS, and Central Fire also responded to support ISP.

It is early in the investigation, but evidence on the scene suggested that a 2010 Hyundai Accent, driven by a 32-year-old male, was traveling westbound while a 2020 Chevrolet Tahoe, driven by a 49-year-old female from Jackson, Wyoming was traveling eastbound. The driver of the Hyundai appeared to have possibly lost control of the vehicle and crossed over into the eastbound lanes where it collided with the Chevrolet.

The Coroner's Office positively identified the driver of the Hyundai as 32-year-old Valentin Armenta Algandar of Idaho Falls. Armenta Algandar was pronounced deceased by the Deputy Coroner at the scene. The occupants of the Tahoe were transported to a local hospital.

Our condolences to the family and friends of the deceased.
